You must agree to the following terms before asking a question!!!!
Why-oh-why is everyone asking me questions like:
"My fish is sick, what should I do?"
I cannot help you with just a vague symptom. THIS IS NOT A FREE ADVICE COLUMN! If your post doesn't contain a SPECIFIC question or even a question mark, it's getting deleted.
The FIRST thing to do when fish are sick is visit:
HEALTHWISE
This "Healthwise"
site will take you through all the various things you might see
wrong with the fish. It makes recommendations on how to approach
the symptoms.
Secondly, use the links you will see in KoiCrisis.com
to cover just the top thirty things you need to know about to help
your fish. UNDERSTAND all the water quality details and test these
in your pond!!!
Finally, use the links at the top of the page, on the left. These categories contain all the questions by category that I have ALREADY answered so far. People keep asking the same question over and over instead of simply looking up their question and answer which so far has existed in 100% of cases! So please first, find your question among those already asked. Then if you have a question, you need to know and report water quality, the size of the tank, who the fishes' tank or pond mates are, and how they are doing, what you see wrong with the fish itself and how long the problem has gone on.
Finally, this "questions" section is for
questions with real answers - not recommendations. I don't want
to have to sit here all day and type recommendations - I'd rather
answer questions. So, even if your question contains a lot of detail;
but ends up with "What should I do?" --- this is not a
question I can readily help you with.
You should try to use the information around here and on KoiCrisis.com to try and arrive at a plan and then I would be happy to answer specific questions or points as I can.
Good questions include ones like: "Is Supaverm
safe with Orfe?" or "What does it mean when a fishes'
eye pops out?" "Can I use Potassium in really cold water?"
There is a tremendous amount of detail on the various
water quality tests, and medications as well as the "Healthwise"
section at Pondrx.com
Here's the link.
IF YOU ASK A QUESTION WHICH PROVES TO ME THAT YOU HAVE NOT CONSIDERED YOUR WATER QUALITY OR WHICH INDICATES YOU'VE DONE ABSOLUTELY NO SELF-HELP READING IN KOIVET.COM OR THIS WEB SITE, I PROBABLY WILL SIMPLY DELETE YOUR QUESTION.
There are too many good questions being asked to simply
spoon-feed someone who is not even using the search capabilities
of Koivet.com or this web site to learn more about what they're
asking.
I must apologize in advance for being picky about
the questions but I can't baby people.
